‘I want to live simply.
I want to sit by the window when it rains
and read books I’ll never be tested on.
I want to paint because I want to,
not because I’ve got something to prove.
I want to listen to my body,
fall asleep when the moon is high and wake up slowly,
with no place to rush off to.
I want not to be governed by money or clocks
or any of the artificial restraints that humanity imposes on itself.
I just want to be, boundless and infinite.’
Film photography is something that has become increasingly popular over the past few years. There has been so many amazing contemporary film and destination wedding photographers popping up all over the place and some of who’s work I really admire. Its something I have always been a little unsure of approaching myself. With so many presets and photo editing options for film it has made things a little easier for people to try and apply a similar style to that which you would find from a film camera. Possibly not 100% true to using an original film camera but it does offer the next best thing.
I have played around with film presets for a few years now but have not been confident enough to edit a full wedding in this style. Getting involved in creative shoots such as this one allows me to experiment with possibilities that perhaps I wouldn’t have chanced before. This was the perfect shoot to do just that. Megan from Couture Bridal Accessories got in touch with me a few months back and ask if I would consider getting involved with a shoot she has been planning for her gorgeous new collection of bridal wear accessories and I am so glad she did.
Megan sourced everything, from the amazing Hair and Make-up which was created by RoCo Hair and the absolutely stunning dresses by The White Gallery. And of course our two beautiful models for the day Justine and Shauna, all set in the breathtaking and charming location of Lough Eske Castle, Donegal. Such a beautiful bohemian style shoot, a style which is very close to my heart. Thank you so much to everyone who got involved and to Megan for asking me to capture it all on camera, such a brilliantly talented team and an absolute pleasure to work with. Have a look and see how we got on…
